Goodbye to Fit for Work
The Fit for Work Scheme was set up to help employers and employees manage sickness absence but it has had very limited success. All GPs in England are able to offer their working patients a referral to the service but most ( 65% in one survey) found had not referred a single person under the scheme. As a result, the Government’s has decided to scrap the Fit for Work in England and Wales on 31 March 2018 and 31 May in Scotland. Employers, employees and GPs will still have access to its helpline, website and web chat service, which offer general health and work advice, as well as sickness absence support.
